Ottawa’s favorite prenatal yoga workshop is now available as a virtual class! Just like when we run this workshop in person, you’ll need comfortable clothing, writing implements, and space in your home to move. Optional recommended items include a yoga mat, props such as blocks, bolsters etc., and snacks/water within reach :) Get your questions about prenatal yoga and birth ready — You’ll finish this workshop feeling more calm, confident and prepared for your upcoming birth experience!

This workshop is split into two segments.

Part One

Join Certified Doula/Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher Natalie for a practice that will weave in active meditation and pranayama (breath) that can be practiced throughout pregnancy and during your birth. The practice will be followed a short discussion about how yogic tools can be applied during labour. Learn how to work with your body, not against it!

Part Two

This segment will involve less movement and more discussion, group activities and time for questions.
A lot of the fear surrounding childbirth stems from not knowing what to expect, so we will explore the birth process in depth and discuss how to use tools such as yoga, active meditation, mantra and breath to move through the fears and anxieties that could inhibit you from having the most enjoyable birth experience possible.

That’s okay! The beauty of a virtual workshop is that you can join from anywhere in the world! The workshop will be live on April 25-26th, but if you miss it you’ll still have access to the recorded version.

Good question! My qualifications are as follows:
– RYT-500 …this means I’ve had over 500hrs of yoga training and am registered with Yoga Alliance

– PRYT ...This means I’m a prenatal yoga teacher, registered with yoga alliance

– CD(DONA) …I’m a birth doula, certified with DONA.org

I’m also a mama of 2, with a bachelor’s degree in communication and publishing. I have been teaching yoga since 2013, and completed an 85hr prenatal yoga training in January 2016.

This workshop is catered to all forms of birth, not just vaginal. That’s why this workshop is called Yoga for Childbirth, not “Yoga for vaginal birth”! :)

I hear you! There are actually many different styles of yoga, not to mention different styles of prenatal yoga. I understand that everyone has different needs and preferences, so I offer a dynamic prenatal yoga experience that weaves in vinyasa, hatha and kundalini styles of practice. It’s truly prenatal yoga for everyone, from olympic athletes to absolute beginners and everyone in between.

YES! You can and should still partake in the workshop. It is an all-levels yoga practice, and I provide lots of modifications for your unique body and any pregnancy conditions as needed. Plus — this workshop is not just yoga. There’s lots of childbirth-focused learning and activities as well :)
